Community Volunteer Work Week

August 10 - 19, 2007

Friends from the surrounding region and from as far away as Moscow, Russia gathered at Lifebridge Sanctuary for our first volunteer work week. Sharing comaraderie, meals and hard work for 10 days, the group built walking trails in the woods, cleared woodland brush, worked in the gardens and performed many important tasks helping to maintain the beauty of Lifebridge Sanctuary.

Every day started with group meditation. Sitting in circle, young and old participated in deep conversation, sharing impressions from the land. We cooked delicious meals using the organic produce from the garden and relaxed at the end of the day.

During the week, 2 walking trails were built in the woods. The Yellow Rock Road is a 45 minute loop with gentle slopes through a beautiful forested area. Ruby Heart Trail is an easy 20 minute walk leading to a cliff top with a spectacular vista of the Catskills.
